Joseph S. (Joe) Ramus
Candidate for Academic Sector Institutional Member Board of Directors seat.
I am a Research Professor at the Duke University Marine Laboratory, Nicholas School of the Environment (fds.duke.edu/db/Nicholas/faculty/jramus). My administrative experience among other things includes Assistant Director (1981-1989) and Director (1990–1998) of the Duke Marine Lab. I served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Marine Laboratories (NAML) from 1993–1998 and on the steering committee for LabNet during that time. LabNet was one of the early initiatives for an integrated coastal ocean observing system shepherded among others by Ken Tenore and Tom Malone. I am co-founder (with Hans Paerl) of FerryMon (ferrymon.org), a mobile estuarine observing system in North Carolina’s Pamlico Sound. I have been an advocate of the SECOORA concept since its inception and will work to make SECOORA operational.
