Tom Kuba

Candidate for Private Sector Institutional Member Board of Directors seat.

I’m a Senior Marketing representative for Lockheed Martin. Since 2005, I’ve been assigned as the principle interface to NOAA and the Regional Associations on the Integrated Ocean Observing System. I’m a member of the Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education (CORE) and have represented the Federal Industry perspective on Ocean Observing Systems. I’m a member of the Executive Committee for the Alliance for Earth Observations.

I’m the Lockheed Martin representative and a member of the Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association (SECOORA). I assisted Jennifer Dorton with the marketing plan section of SECOORA’s business plan.

As an experienced marketing representative, I bring a unique perspective to the SECOORA board. My expertise is working with organizations to identify their value add and find customers who are interested in paying for their services. My value to SECOORA is keeping the focus on the business model and to find ways to leverage SECOORA’s unique characteristics, scientific expertise and capabilities into a working business.

The only caveat is that I will have to recuse myself from any activity or discussion that may raise Conflict of Interest issues involving Lockheed Martin and SECOORA.
