FACT Network
December 14-15, 2021
Virtual
Our two day virtual meeting included FACT business updates, member updates and talks, as well as presentations by some of our partners! We also had a demonstration of the new FACT Data Visualization Tool (DaViT), an interactive mapping tool allowing the public to see the range and distribution of FACT tagged animals.
Our workshops included Basic and Advanced coding for telemetry datasets presented by the Ocean Tracking Network and Node 101, which aims to help new members input their data into our database to be automatically sent and matched with other researchers.
Use our drop down below to see updates from the FACT Network.
We’ve completed two data pushes through the FACT Node and now have part time help during these events (with a huge thanks to OTN!)
The FACT Network has been awarded the following two grants:
Incorporating acoustic telemetry data into coastal management.
Awarded by SECOORA and includes the development of an online data visualization tool.
Grant ends May 31 2022.
Greater Amberjack research to determine abundance estimates by habitat type, distribution, and movement in U.S. waters in the South Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico regions.
Awarded by SeaGrant, subaward through North Carolina State University. Supports a part time data manager.
Grant Period: 1 Aug 2021 – 31 July 2023.
11 new studies were published in scientific journals in 2021 by our members! You can check out those papers on our publication page.
The Ocean Tracking Network led workshops on R coding for acoustic telemetry.
