Josephine Jeni Justin is the new Program Coordinator for one of SECOORA’s affiliate programs, the Southeast & Caribbean Disaster Resilience Partnership (SCDRP). SCDRP strengthens the ability of the Southeast region’s coastal communities, economies, and environment to recover from coastal storms. SCDRP connects disaster recovery practitioners from public, private, and non-profit backgrounds and provides a platform for training, resources, and relationships that coastal communities need to bounce back.
Josephine earned her B.A. Political Science and B.A. Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is currently a second year student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing her Masters of City and Regional planning. She is also completing a Natural Hazards Resilience Certificate and specializing in land use and environmental planning and transportation planning. Josephine’s interests lie in disaster management, coastal resilience, environmental justice, and communications.
“I am grateful for this opportunity with SCDRP to apply my education and experience in urban planning, political science, and communications to further the partnership’s work in strengthening resilience to disasters. I look forward to meeting and working with the SCDRP community.”
Josephine Jeni Justin, SCDRP Program Coordinator
Within SCDRP, Josephine will support all SCDRP communications such as monthly newsletters and social media accounts, help manage monthly Partnership meetings, and assist in the planning of the SCDRP Annual Meeting.
Josephine’s experience includes working as an intern with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and as an AmeriCorps California Climate Action Corps Fellow with the City of Los Angeles’ Climate Emergency Mobilization Office. She hopes to continue working in natural hazards, disasters, and resilience with SCDRP.
