Franklin the Glider is on a Coordinated Mission to Improve Tropical Storm Intensity Forecasting

SECOORA’s glider, Franklin, has a friend for his first mission of the 2022 hurricane season. Franklin is flying under the Saildrone SD-1059 for the next 30-60 days collecting water column data to help forecasters better understand the forces that drive hurricane intensity.

Travel award to present research at a virtual or in-person regional, national, or international meetings or conferences. A total of $2,500 is available. Ideally, SECOORA will support at least one person in each funding category (Undergraduate and Graduate / Early Career). Proposals are due Thursday September 22, 5:00 PM ET.

The 2022 Data Challenge invites applicants to develop a project that combines multiple Southeast datasets to understand a coastal ocean event. There are two $3,500 prizes in two categories and proposals are due Thursday September 22, 2022.
