SECOORA invites proposals for funding the installation of new Surface Elevation Table (SET) stations or the reactivation of historic SET stations within our region. This opportunity will cover the cost of materials and supplies, which SECOORA will purchase and ship directly to you.
The SECOORA region includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
To submit a proposal (up to 5 pages), please email the SECOORA SET Coordinator, Dr. Nisse Goldberg (ngoldbe@ju.edu), by Friday, September 20th, 5 PM ET.
Proposal Requirements
- Contact Information:
- Your name, affiliation, address, email, and phone number
- Funding Request:
- Total amount requested
- SET Station Details:
- Description of the proposed SET station location(s), including GPS coordinates and justification for the site(s)
- Materials and Supplies:
- List of requested materials and supplies with estimated amounts
- (Optional) Vendor information, item number, and quantity
- Installation Timeline:
- Timeframe for when the installation(s) will be conducted and completed
- Acknowledgements:
- Agree to work with SECOORA on a plan to share pin-level data from the SET station(s) (SECOORA can mint DOIs upon request)
- Provide necessary information for NEPA approvals (SECOORA will coordinate this process through the NOAA IOOS Program Office)
- Commit to communicating with SECOORA’s SET coordinator within 1-2 months after repairs are completed, per the timeframe described in the proposal
Review Process
In October, a review committee, including coastal zone managers and SET experts who have not submitted proposals for this opportunity, will evaluate and prioritize the requests.
Notification and Next Steps
In November, notifications will be sent out. Those with funded proposals will then be able to submit their material/supply orders.

SECOORA will submit a coordinated regional proposal in response to the anticipated FY 2026 Implementation of the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) funding opportunity. Letters of Intent to be considered for inclusion in SECOORA’s full proposal are due September 9, 2025.
